Principal's Message
Dear Marshall Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I'm Edward Espino, and I'm proud to lead this amazing Marshall school community.
At Marshall, we cultivate a positive and collaborative school culture of teachers, staff, and parents who all play a vital role in creating a vibrant, safe, supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environment where our scholars can learn, grow, and reach their full potential. In a positive and engaging learning environment, we provide our scholars with the academic and social-emotional support they need to succeed. We strive to foster a love of learning and encourage our scholars to become lifelong learners.
In promoting a culture of college and career readiness, we are dedicated to providing our students with a transformative educational experience that equips them for academic success in higher education and their future career goals. Our mission is to foster critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities, empowering our scholars to navigate and adjust to a rapidly changing world. We emphasize hands-on learning experiences, real-world applications, and collaborative projects that prepare our scholars for college and their future career choice.
At Marshall Elementary, MindSet is Everything! We believe in the power of a Growth Mindset. We believe that all of our scholars can achieve their goals, no matter what challenges they may face. Our students are taught to set goals, work hard, never give up, and put forth 100% effort in everything they do.
We offer a variety of academic and enrichment opportunities to help our students thrive. During the day, we offer small group interventions to help students who need extra support. We offer a variety of Visual PErforming Arts activities, such as P.S. Arts, Conga dance, and Music Center. After school, we offer the Think Together Program, Leadership Academy, STARGATE program, and Intervention.
At Marshall, We believe that Character Counts! As a PBIS Gold School, We also have a strong focus on positive behavior. We use positive behavior incentives, such as ROCK Star tickets, raffles, attendance, uniform, and cafeteria points, to reinforce expected behaviors. We encourage our scholars to make positive and responsible choices. Our school emphasizes "Character Counts," by promoting the Six pillars of character: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Citizenship, Fairness, and Trustworthiness. Our focus on positive behavior has improved scholar engagement and promotes character building.
Thurgood Marshall Elementary is a great place for our scholars to learn and grow. We believe that for every setback, there is a comeback. Our scholars learn from their mistakes and use them as opportunities to improve and grow.
When teachers, staff, and parents work together, they can create a school that is a great place for scholars to learn and prosper. Marshall Elementary is that school, the Place to Be!!
Go Marshall Bisons!
Sincerely,
Edward Espino, M.Ed.,M.S
