Construction is in full swing at the Lynwood High School Imperial Campus, with grading on the site now complete and deep soil mixing underway to prepare the site for a state-of-the-art educational facility. The work, which began in January following the December groundbreaking ceremony, marks a significant step in the District’s commitment to providing modern learning spaces for students.
Bernards, an award-winning and renowned construction company, is leading the project and is currently conducting deep soil mixing—an essential process that strengthens the foundation by combining soil with concrete. A total of 832 deep soil columns will be constructed over the next seven weeks to ensure a stable and durable base for the new classroom building.
“This project represents a transformative investment in our students and community,” said Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Gretchen Janson, Ed.D. “We are excited to see the progress and look forward to providing Lynwood High School students with a campus that fosters innovation and success.”

Once completed, the new three-story, 175,000-square-foot building will house 70 classrooms designed to enhance hands-on learning and modern educational experiences. The campus will feature specialized spaces such as a fully equipped culinary arts kitchen, advanced medical training labs, dedicated art rooms, a new kiln and refreshed interior designs.
Athletic facilities will also receive significant upgrades, including new softball, baseball and a field that can be used for soccer and lacrosse competitions, as well as football practice. Field renovation designs will be finalized this spring.
Additional campus improvements are planned for the remaining site buildings, including the performing arts center, gymnasium, administration building, library, cafeteria and industrial arts buildings. These facilities are currently undergoing inspections and environmental testing, with a master plan for campus renovation expected to be completed this spring.
